How to be happier right now: 5 tips for less anxiousness & more happiness

We're all looking to live a happy life.

The problem that we run into is our minds aren't wired this way. We are trained very early on that we need money, material things, lots of friends and romance to be truly happy.

We see it on TV, in the movies and on social media. Those who are "truly" happy have all of these things and they flaunt it around for the world to see.

But is that really where happiness begins?

Happiness is a mindset. It's something that we get to choose every single day. That means that we have control over whether or no we are happy.

Of course there are days where we are going to run into things that challenge our happiness, but we will always have a choice in how we react.

So today, I want to share 5 ways that you can improve your happiness:

1. Write a gratitude list.

So much of our unhappiness is based on wanting what we don't have or envying those that we are not. When you focus on what you're grateful that you DO have then your mindset will shift to happiness with where you're at right now.

2. Affirmations.

The way that we talk to others as well as ourselves can have a huge impact on how we feel throughout the day.

If we are constantly tearing other people down or ourselves down then we are bound to feel pretty unhappy.

Be mindful of how you talk to yourself.

If you start to notice any negative self-talk then replace it with an affirmation. Remember to spread love.

3. Focus on what you can control.

We have a tendency to fixate on what we cannot control which means that we feel out of control. Does that make sense?

When we focus on what we can control, we can let go of everything else and accept the results of our efforts. Because we know that we've done everything that we can.

4. List out your strengths and accomplishments.

Being able to realize what you bring to this world can help with your happiness as it brings a sense of worth and value. We all have unique gifts. Do you know yours?
